Torrens Terrace Apartments
The contract to strengthen this 32-unit apartment building was won following an open tender process.
Following award of the contract, the Wilson team worked with the client and engineer to redesign the foundations and eliminate the need to demolish sections of the building for piling rig access.
The final project involved the installation of heavy steel K-frames, plus new foundations and ground anchors within the central corridor.
In total over 100m3 of concrete and earth was excavated from inside the building using mini excavators and track barrows. Over 31 ton of steel beams were carried into the building and 18,000kg of reinforcing was tied into the internal ground beams.
Work was sequenced from the top down to allow the progressive hand back of apartments for refit.
